The machine came in on noise and smoke — the two symptoms that most often end in a teardown rather than a repair, because neither one tells you on its own how far the damage has travelled. The repair carried out was a full engine rebuild.
A rebuild is the claim a warranty administrator least wants to get wrong. It is the highest-value single line a tractor dealership is likely to submit in a given month, and the cost of a documentation error is not a resubmission — it is the largest claim of the month sitting unpaid while the parts are already fitted and the customer already has the machine back.
Why it is awkward on paper
The part that is not mechanical
Engine claims fail on coding more often than on eligibility. A rebuild touches many part numbers, and the claim has to identify which one actually caused the failure rather than listing everything that was replaced alongside it. Get the causal part wrong and the whole claim inherits the argument.
The outcome
What happened when it was submitted
Claimed and approved at the same figure, on first submission. It is the single biggest line in the pilot and the reason the recovery percentage across all five holds up — a partial on this one claim would have moved the total more than the four others combined.
